This Christmas we are highlighting the charity’s Christmas appeal. Karen Jeal, Strode Park Foundation’s Director of Fundraising and Communications explains more:
Tell me what the Strode Park Foundation is and does?
Caring since 1946, Strode Park Foundation is a Kent charity, providing vital care, support services, care at home, supported living opportunities and day and leisure services for children and adults with a range of disabilities
What is the Xmas Appeal?
Our Secret Santa Appeal 2021 is all about making Christmas great for our residents across all our homes. We have set up an Amazon Wishlist with gifts that the homes/residents have asked for and we are then passing this list onto our supporters to buy from. Items start from as little as £3 for things like Christmas games for them to enjoy over the festive period, to diaries, toiletries, sensory items and much more in between.
What response have you had so far?
We’ve been bowled over by the response so far. We have had a decent amount of the list donated and each home has a really good range of bits and pieces for the residents. We have also had monetary donations through our website and these donations have also equated to more than £1,200 and we still have more coming in.

What difference will it make to those you help and the charity?
We ran this appeal for the first time last year and it was incredibly successful and welcomed by the homes. 2020 and, equally 2021, has been really tough and challenging or all but even more so for our residents who have various and complex disabilities. Our residents are inspiring, kind, and determined people who we think well deserve some presents, especially after yet another year of strict lockdowns to keep all the homes safe.
